Extra-Institutional Credit

General Information

Extra-Institutional credit can be obtained through CLEP, DSST and departmental examinations. These extra-institutional examinations are only available for undergraduate credit. Credit earned by examination will not appear on the transcript until the student has successfully completed 12 or more semester credit hours of academic work at UCO and has filled out an 'Application For Credit' with Testing Services. Once these conditions have been met, the application will be submitted to the Office of Admissions for processing.

A student may not test out of a course in which he or she is currently enrolled. Credit will be recorded with a neutral grade of P (pass) if the student earns a passing score. No grade is recorded if the student fails the exam. A failed CLEP or Departmental exam may be repeated after three months have elapsed. A failed DSST exam may be repeated after thirty days have elapsed.

Attention UCO students!

The maximum number of extra-institutional credit hours allowed is 30 and includes all forms of prior learning assessments.
