The B.S. Forensics Science – Molecular Biology degree at the Forensic Science Institute is a FEPAC accredited degree that prepares students for a career in the field of Forensic DNA Analysis. The education and training students receive in addition to the concurrent Biology degree exceed the national standards known as the Quality Assurance Standards (QAS) for potential employees within crime laboratories in the United States. Our students learn how to analyze biological evidence from humans and other organisms, use chemical indicator tests, extract and amplify DNA, generate DNA profiles, analyze a variety of DNA profiles, utilize probabilistic software, and sequence entire genomes using massively parallel sequencing, all accomplished in a new laboratory at UCO dedicated to DNA education and training.


Curriculum

To complete the program, you have to complete another major in addition to 36 hours in the Forensic Science undergraduate program. You can either double major or if you already have a Bachelor's degree, you can earn a second degree by completing the 36 hours in our program.

Scholarships & Tuition Waivers

The Forensic Science Institute offers a limited number of scholarships and assistantships to Forensic Science students.  Students may begin applying for scholarships the spring semester of their first year to be applied the following school year.
