UCO has temporarily shifted most in-person classes to synchronous virtual delivery through Jan. 31. Campus facilities and services will remain open and offer in-person and virtual options. COVID-19 protocols remain in place. Masks are required on campus when around others. Students, faculty and staff who are directly exposed to or test positive for COVID-19 should fill out UCO's COVID-19 Self-Reporting form. UCO's College of Mathematics and Science offers a core of courses designed to provide students with a common breadth and depth of information, allowing students to tailor specific academic programs toward their future goals. In addition, faculty members mentor many undergraduate and graduate students in lab- and field-based research projects.
The mission of the UCO Department of Chemistry is to provide students with sound foundations in the theory and application of chemistry and to instill good laboratory practice, critical thinking and communication skills so that students can become productive, ethical and engaged professionals in chemistry or related fields. The department also encourages professional growth of students and staff by seeking and implementing opportunities for scholarly work, scientific outreach and community engagement.
