Theatre Arts - Design and Technology
The Theatre Design/Technology B.F.A. degree is designed for the student who is interested in a career as a professional designer, technician, or stage manager in theatre and other performance mediums. The Theatre Design/Technology degree provides students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to compete and succeed in the continually evolving world of professional theatre design and technology. The Design/Technology degree also prepares students for continuing education in graduate school and professional employment in a range of entertainment related careers.
Curriculum
UCO’s Department of Theatre Arts maintains the following shops: scene, lighting, costume, props, and a sound studio. Students working in these shops learn that “hands-on” is the rule. They work with all aspects of productions—building scenery, hanging lights, constructing costumes, creating props, recording sound, crewing and stage managing.
Scholarships & Tuition Waivers
Incoming freshman are eligible for a variety of scholarships within the General Academic Scholarship Program. There are four scholarships specific to the Department of Theatre Arts.
