Kevin Freeman, Finance and Operations

After a lengthy career in corporate administration and finance, Kevin Freeman joined the University of Central Oklahoma in 2006 as the athletic business manager and assistant athletic director. He moved to university administration in 2008 as manager-special projects and then assistant vice president for business enterprises. Freeman served as a valuable utility player by serving as interim executive director of the Center for Professional and Distance Education and as interim co-vice president for Administration and Finance, both while serving concurrently as assistant vice president for business enterprises.

In July 2016, Freeman became the university’s first vice president for operations and chief operating officer. Kevin helped lead Central during a time of unprecedented growth, overseeing the property acquisition, planning, financing, and construction efforts in UCO's physical infrastructure. He has been instrumental in negotiating and managing many of the university’s key partnerships, including Chartwell’s, Barnes and Noble, Coca-Cola, and Midfirst Bank.

In July 2019, his role was consolidated with the vice president for finance and chief financial officer to become the vice president for finance and operations and chief financial officer. This position provides executive leadership across a broad set of university functions, including; Financial Services, Administration Services, Financial Planning and Budgeting, Process Improvement, Real Estate Operations, Public Safety, Physical Plant, Facilities Management, Architecture and Engineering Services and Campus Enterprises.

Prior to joining UCO in 2006, Kevin spent 17 years at OGE Energy Corp and OG&E, serving in a wide range of administration and finance positions, including accounting, investor relations, and financial planning and analysis. One of his more notable responsibilities during this time was the operation and maintenance of the corporate financial model used to forecast future financial performance.

Freeman is a UCO graduate, receiving his bachelor of business administration degree in finance before completing his MBA degree from Oklahoma City University. As an undergraduate, he was a three-time All-American and Academic All-American for the Broncho wrestling team. He was inducted into the UCO Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.

Kevin was a Leadership Edmond Class XXX member and currently serves on the City of Edmond Capital Improvements Advisory Board and the Edmond Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
