Employee Wellness

The Employee Wellness Program at the University of Central Oklahoma is dedicated to improving the overall health and well-being of employees both on campus and in our community. Encouraging healthy lifestyle choices such as physical activity, healthy eating, and social interactions will strengthen our university and improve the impact UCO has on students, colleagues, and the community.

Wellness Champions

Wellness Champions act as liaisons between their departments and the UCO Employee Wellness Program. They act as champions of wellness by promoting opportunities for their co-workers to increase their energy level, enjoy a more productive workday, and help to improve behavioral changes day to day.

Wellness Champions are expected to:

  • Disseminate announcements from the Employee Wellness Committee each month (delivered by email)
  • Attend monthly Employee Wellness Committee meetings (as schedule allows)
  • Support and promote strategic health improvement initiatives (i.e. monthly employee wellness programs and events, physical activity policy, Polar BODYAGE assessment, etc.)

Be Broncho Fit!

As part of this fitness and nutrition coaching program, UCO employees are partnered with an Exercise Fitness Management student and receive FREE fitness assessments, individualized workout-out plans, fitness training sessions, and incentive prizes. The student serves as the employee's "wellness coach" for the eight-week program, with a goal to educate and motivate. Nutritional support sessions are offered through the Nutrition/Dietetics department.

Registration occurs during the first two weeks of each fall and spring semester. For more information on the Be Broncho Fit! program, contact Jacilyn Olson, Ph.D. or Larissa Boyd, Ph.D.

Wellness Wednesday Walks

Wellness Wednesday Walks take place every Wednesday for four-six weeks (as weather allows) in the fall and spring semesters. The group meets at Chickasaw Plaza on the southeast side of Old North at 11:45 a.m. and walks to Sprouts on Second St.
