Public Affairs Legislative Overview Micro-Credential
Public Affairs facilitates civic engagement for the campus community while providing resources on legislative initiatives impacting UCO and higher education. This micro-credential provides an introduction of institutional legislative priorities and annual messaging for the UCO community. This training aligns campus efforts as partners advocate on behalf of the university and introduces appropriate campus messaging. It provides a fundamental introduction on governing bodies and how decisions affect campus.
UCO Public Affairs promotes healthy dialogue between our campus and local communities, which is essential to the university's position as the state's only public four-year metropolitan university. This micro-credential only needs to be completed once. However, the 'Campus Messaging' portion is updated to reflect new institutional priorities and must be completed annually. Our 2023 legislative messaging can be found online. The micro-credential is an introduction and people who complete it have been exposed to the UCO governing bodies, structure and legislative priorities but are not considered spokespersons for the university. Upon completion, participants will receive a 'badge' reflecting their annual participation.
