Transparency in Coverage Final Rule—Machine Readable Files

The Transparency in Coverage final rule, released on October 29, 2020, requires health plans to publicly disclose pricing information via machine readable files (MRFs). These files will contain in-network negotiated rate information, except for providers with unique payment methodologies that may not be available. The MRFs can be accessed here.

MRFs are intended for researchers, regulators, and application developers; as such, they are written in computer code, not English. The MRF does not contain any benefit details or member personal health information. Aetna will update the files each month and the link will remain constant with the most up-to-date files.
