Graduate Faculty and Staff

The graduate faculty at the University of Central Oklahoma are drawn from the faculties of the academic colleges of the university and are made up of those persons who demonstrate the qualifications and expertise necessary to instruct and supervise graduate students. It is the stated goal and intent of the graduate college that the graduate faculty have a diverse background, representing a broad range of academic disciplines and specialties.

There are two types of graduate faculty membership: full members and associate members. Graduate Faculty Membership status (both full and associate) authorize the faculty members to instruct graduate courses and supervise graduate students. Full Member status grants the faculty member permanent status in the graduate faculty. Associate Member status grants the faculty member a five-year membership term in the graduate faculty.

Application for membership must be made on the Graduate Faculty Membership Nomination Form and returned to the graduate college via the instructions on the form.

Graduate Student Advisory Board

Jackson College of Graduate Studies (JCGS) appointed its 2022-23 Graduate Student Advisory Board (GSAB). In 2019, Dr. Jeanetta Sims, former dean of the Graduate College, founded the Graduate Student Advisory Board (GSAB) as a mechanism for privileging and foregrounding graduate student voices directly to the Dean.

UCO Jackson College of Graduate Studies (JCGS) provides access to graduate education for culturally-diverse students locally, nationally, and internationally, while supporting UCO’s mission of transformative learning through processes which maintain and enhance quality.

A UCO master’s degree signifies that its recipient possesses the disciplinary knowledge, analytical skills and mature judgment of an advanced professional and a well-educated person. Completion of this degree brings the satisfaction of in-depth mastery of a chosen field and confidence needed for the discovery and application of that new knowledge.
