Thesis Defense Scheduling Update
Amid the pandemic, the Graduate College shifted to 100% virtual thesis defenses. Now that the university has resumed normal operations, thesis defenses are scheduled to be in person with some opportunities for virtual or hybrid thesis defenses using Zoom at the discretion of the thesis committee chair. The thesis committee chair will handle hosting and set up for any virtual or hybrid thesis defenses once graduate students schedule their thesis defense with the Graduate College.
To schedule a thesis defense, email the form to the Graduate College to initiate the internal process of thesis defense scheduling with communications from the Graduate College to follow. Each thesis defense is required to have a Graduate College representative present and to provide an opportunity for the public to attend.
Thesis Preparation Instructions
Some graduate programs require a master’s thesis. Students completing a thesis should follow the instructions of their thesis committees concerning the development and preparation of their projects. Additionally, thesis students must comply with the JCGS and the Chambers Library requirements. See the Thesis Packet for further explanations and details.
If you have questions or need assistance, please email the Graduate College or call 405-974-3341 .
Support your peers as an audience member
Some of our graduate programs require a thesis. To better support our graduate students, thesis defenses may be in person, virtual, or hybrid. We schedule thesis defenses and promote them through incorporating a public element for their projects.
If you would like to join a thesis defense as an in person or virtual audience member, please email your request to the thesis committee chairperson located in the respective Thesis Defense event listed in the calendar feed below.
