Graduate Admissions and Testing Score Update
The UCO Jackson College of Graduate Studies is encouraging all prospective students to apply for graduate study given the parameters shared in the existing Graduate Catalog and in the degree sheets associated with their respective graduate programs of interest.
Amid COVID-19 concerns, the Graduate College is being flexible with the application deadlines as program capacity permits for all graduate application deadlines on or after April 1. In addition, the Graduate College is being patient with prospective students in receiving GRE scores to make admissions decisions. We understand that the Educational Testing Service (ETS) has developed an at-home test for the GRE general test, which is available in the United States and other select countries. This at-home test can be scheduled as early as Friday, March 27.
The first step for all prospective graduate students interested in being admitted to the Graduate College is to apply for graduate study. Prospective students can reach out to their respective graduate admissions specialist for additional assistance or for sharing any unique circumstances related to their application.
International Graduate Admissions Update
We understand prospective international graduate students may have limited access to official materials. The Graduate College is working with applicants on a case-by-case basis to resolve concerns associated with any needed admissions materials.
For those who require English Language Proficiency testing, ETS at-home testing is available in all countries except mainland China and Iran. For students impacted by COVID-19 and who do not have access to the ETS at-home test, the Graduate College will accept Duolingo’s English Test results, which require a score of 105 for regular graduate admission. International students can view information from Duolingo, IELTS, and ETS directly from their respective websites.

100% Virtual Thesis Defense Scheduling Update
To enhance the safety of UCO graduate students and faculty, the Graduate College has shifted to virtual thesis defenses for the remainder of the spring semester. Thesis defenses scheduled will occur virtually with 100% of participants using Zoom. For the remainder of the spring semester, face-to-face thesis defense scheduling cannot occur. The Graduate College will handle hosting and setting up all virtual conferences once graduate students schedule their thesis defense with the Graduate College.
To schedule a thesis defense, contact Academic Programs Specialist, Elise Ellis. She will initiate the Graduate College internal process of virtual conference thesis defense scheduling with communications from the Graduate College to follow. Each thesis defense is still required to have a Graduate College representative present on the virtual conference and scheduling will provide an opportunity for the public to be virtually present as desired.
the Graduate College has gone paperless
Once all other signatures have been secured, the forms can be emailed to email@example.com to obtain the Graduate College Dean’s signature. We will route the form to the appropriate campus office for further processing as needed.
