Important Graduate College Information Amid COVID-19 Pandemic Concerns

COVID-19 Response

The Graduate College reopened our physical offices to the public Monday, June 1, 2020. In an effort to keep our fellow Bronchos healthy, please review the university's COVID-19 Response for resources, policies, procedure and other important updates if you are planning a visit to campus. Appointments are strongly encouraged. Prospective Graduate Students

Graduate Admissions and Testing Score Update

The UCO Jackson College of Graduate Studies is encouraging all prospective students to apply for graduate study given the parameters shared in the existing Graduate Catalog and in the degree sheets associated with their respective graduate programs of interest.

Amid COVID-19 concerns, the Graduate College is being flexible with the application deadlines as program capacity permits for all graduate application deadlines on or after April 1. In addition, the Graduate College is being patient with prospective students in receiving GRE scores to make admissions decisions.

The first step for all prospective graduate students interested in being admitted to the Graduate College is to apply for graduate study. Prospective students can reach out to their respective graduate admissions specialist for additional assistance or for sharing any unique circumstances related to their application.

International Graduate Admissions Update

We understand prospective international graduate students may have limited access to official materials. The Graduate College is working with applicants on a case-by-case basis to resolve concerns associated with any needed admissions materials.

For those who require English Language Proficiency testing, ETS at-home testing is available in all countries. For students impacted by COVID-19 and who do not have access to the ETS at-home test, the Graduate College will accept Duolingo’s English Test results, which require a score of 105 for regular graduate admission. International students can view information from DuolingoIELTS, and ETS directly from their respective websites.

International graduate students should schedule an International Graduate Student Check-in to ensure our admissions team is available for a convenient and safe check-in.

For more information related to international graduate student admissions, please contact our international graduate admissions specialist at igrad@uco.edu

100% Virtual Thesis Defense Scheduling Update

To enhance the safety of UCO graduate students and faculty, the Graduate College continues to offer virtual thesis defenses. When scheduled, virtual thesis defenses occur with 100% of participants using Zoom. While face-to-face thesis defenses can be scheduled using social distancing guidelines, the Graduate College strongly encourages virtual thesis defenses. The Graduate College will handle hosting and setting up all virtual conferences once graduate students schedule their thesis defense with the Graduate College.

To schedule a thesis defense, contact Academic Programs Specialist, Elise Ellis. She will initiate the Graduate College internal process of virtual conference thesis defense scheduling with communications from the Graduate College to follow. Each thesis defense is still required to have a Graduate College representative present on the virtual conference and scheduling will provide an opportunity for the public to be virtually present as desired.
