Through transformative learning experiences, interdisciplinary collaboration and close interactions among students and faculty, the College of Mathematics and Science advances knowledge and prepares students to succeed in professional and graduate school, become productive members of the STEM workforce and become leaders in health care, science and math education, research and other professional fields. We engage with the community and contribute to the intellectual life, health and economy of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. We provide core knowledge of mathematics and science to all students, enhance their comprehension and appreciation of the principles of these disciplines and improve their ability to make informed decisions.

Greetings from the College of Mathematics and Science.

It is my honor and privilege to serve our faculty, students, alumni, donors, industrial sponsors, business partners and all the stakeholders of CMS.

CMS offers a broad spectrum of education with seven departments: Nursing, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering and Physics, Mathematics and Statistics, and Funeral Service. As the order of departments indicates, we train our students to provide service to all people from the sweet beginning (Nursing) to the peaceful end (Funeral Service).

UCO has a national reputation as a leader for undergraduate research. CMS students have the opportunity to work with our faculty on cutting-edge research from their first day on campus.

CMS focuses on interdisciplinary learning. We have established the Center for Interdisciplinary Biomedical Education and Research (CIBER), the Center for Research and Education in Interdisciplinary Computation (CREIC) and the Center for Wildlife Forensics and Conservation Studies (CFACS). Faculty and students have opportunities to cross-pollinate ideas and collaborate on projects from across all STEM disciplines.

During the past decades, the University of Central Oklahoma has gone through a significant transformation. CMS has been the vanguard and has become a STEM powerhouse in fulfilling our new mission as the only Oklahoma Metropolitan University.

We at CMS continue to strive to achieve academic excellence. We are working diligently to prepare our students to be tomorrow’s leaders in the STEM field. We have a wonderful team of associate and assistant deans together with the dedicated chairs from all the departments in our college. With the efforts of our caring and dedicated faculty and staff, we ensure the success of our students as they become life-long learners, productive citizens, and contributors to our society.
