Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Central Oklahoma values teaching as an essential component of the education of our students. Our teaching sustains a rigorous and innovative curriculum that focuses on developing the capabilities of students in chemistry and biochemistry. The department offers three degree options: B.S. in Chemistry; B.S. in Chemistry - ACS Certificate; and B.S. in Chemistry - Health Sciences.
The mission of the UCO Department of Chemistry is to provide students with sound foundations in the theory and application of chemistry and to instill good laboratory practice, critical thinking, and communication skills so that students can become productive, ethical, and engaged professionals in chemistry or related fields. The department also encourages professional growth of students and staff by seeking and implementing opportunities for scholarly work, scientific outreach, and community engagement.
