College of Mathematics & Science

Mission

Through transformative learning experiences, interdisciplinary collaboration and close interactions among students and faculty, the College of Mathematics and Science advances knowledge and prepares students to succeed in professional and graduate school, become productive members of the STEM workforce and become leaders in health care, science and math education, research and other professional fields. We engage with the community and contribute to the intellectual life, health and economy of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. We provide core knowledge of mathematics and science to all students, enhance their comprehension and appreciation of the principles of these disciplines and improve their ability to make informed decisions.

Helping Students Learn.

The faculty and staff in the College of Mathematics and Science strive to provide students with an exceptional educational experience. Here, you will find comparatively small classes taught by faculty who know you and care about your educational and professional success.

Reshaping Your World. Transforming Your Future.

Today's competitive, rapidly changing world requires depth and agility in the workplace. To prepare students to meet these challenges, UCO and the College of Mathematics and Science provides students with opportunities for life-changing intellectual experiences that take place both inside and beyond the classroom. We call this "transformative learning."

At the University of Central Oklahoma, we help students learn by providing them with transformative experiences across six core areas. These experiences help them to develop beyond-disciplinary skills and expand their perspectives of their relationships with self, others, community and environment. Transformative Learning is a holistic process that places students at the center of their own active and reflective learning experiences.

These six core areas are:

  • Discipline Knowledge;
  • Global and Cultural Competencies;
  • Health and Wellness;
  • Leadership;
  • Research, Creative and Scholarly Activities; and
  • Service Learning and Civic Engagement.
