Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Teaching the Middle East Summer Institute has been postponed to the Summer of 2021. We are still taking applications and will update these pages regularly.
 

Summer Teachers' Seminar

map and compass decorative imageJoin us at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond for a week-long seminar, “Teaching the Middle East,” funded by the Oklahoma Humanities Council. Scholars from across the nation will train local teachers in the history of the Middle East from antiquity to the present based on the state standards. Topics include: Ancient Israel, the Roman Empire, Islam, the Crusades, modern Iran, and terrorism.

Teachers traveling some distance may qualify for free accommodations and meals on campus. There is no cost to participate, but applications are required.
