In order to best prepare students for their future careers, the Department of Human Environmental Sciences offers several student organizations to provide additional transformative learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom setting. Central Council on Family Relations

This organization is a student affiliate of the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) and works cooperatively with the Oklahoma Council on Family Relations (OKCFR). The Central Council on Family Relations seeks to provide a forum for students and faculty to share in the development and dissemination of knowledge about families and family relationships, establish professional standards and work to promote family well-being.

 

Phi Upsilon Omicron, Gamma Gamma Collegiate Chapter

The primary purpose of this honor society is to recognize and encourage academic excellence, develop qualities of professional and personal leadership, provide opportunities for service to the profession, and encourage professional and personal commitment in order to advance family and consumer sciences and related areas. Undergraduate and graduate students are selected for membership based on academic standing, leadership, and service. Phi Upsilon Omicron, National Honor Society in Family & Consumer Sciences is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies.

Student Dietetic Association

The main purpose of the Student Dietetic Association is to promote awareness of and the profession of dietetics among students at UCO. The association provides an outlet for nutrition and dietetic students to exchange ideas and plan activities.

Advocates for Children and Families (ACF)

The Advocates for Children and Families is affiliated with the Early Childhood Association of Oklahoma. The purpose is to bring UCO students together in order to further their professional development and to broaden their educational experiences with young children and families.

UCO Fashion Troupe

The UCO Fashion Troupe is a student organization related to Fashion Marketing Program. The main purposes of Fashion Troupe are to enlarge the student's understanding of the present and future scope of careers in the fashion merchandising area, to emphasize and promote professional, rather than social, aspects of student activities on campus, to facilitate the preparation of students to assume the responsibilities of a career professional and to represent the students collectively in all extracurricular matters relative to faculty, profession and other organizations.
