Educational Sciences, Foundations & Research

The Educational Sciences, Foundations and Research Department collaborates with other education programs at UCO in preparing teachers for certification and/or graduation through the Undergraduate Professional Sequence. These are courses which provide the foundations and pedagogies of teaching as well as clinical experiences in partner schools.

At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Education in Secondary Education. This program is personalized to meet the needs of a variety of students. This includes experienced teachers seeking to advance their pedagogical knowledge, emergency or alternatively certified teachers seeking fundamental teaching skills with immediate application to the classroom, and individuals seeking to develop foundational knowledge and skills needed to pursue a doctorate in education.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) Alternative Placement Program provides an opportunity for individuals with non-teaching degrees to teach in Oklahoma accredited schools. The UCO TeacherPath program serves as a guided pathway to help alternatively or emergency certified secondary education teachers fulfill certification requirements. For more information about the program, visit the UCO TeacherPath website.

Visit UCO’s Teacher Education Services website for more information regarding certifications, clinical experiences, student teaching and admissions to the undergraduate teacher education program, which leads to a bachelor's degree in education.
