The Center for Active Living and Learning, in partnership with the Areawide Aging Agency, also provides fitness classes in communities across the state of Oklahoma. There is no cost to participate in these classes; however, donations are appreciated and used to maintain and expand services. To register for these classes, call 405-974-5309 or email call@uco.edu.

This project makes no distinctions on the grounds of race, color, gender, age, ancestry, national origin, religion, or disability. A portion of the project costs is met by state and federal OAA funds from Areawide Aging Agency and OKDHS Aging Services.


SAIL Classes

Stay Active and Independent for Life (S.A.I.L.) is an evidence-based group exercise class designed to help improve balance and mobility; reducing the risk of falls and improving quality of life. This class can be tailored to fit individual needs and is perfect for any fitness level. Participants gain knowledge on proper techniques and the importance of health-related exercise while interacting with instructors and fellow classmates. The S.A.I.L. class includes the following types of exercises:

  • Aerobics
  • Balance and Agility
  • Resistance Training
  • Flexibility
