Degree Information, Fees and Honors
Concurrent Degrees/Double Majors
Concurrent degrees can be earned when a student pursues two undergraduate degrees simultaneously, with the majors occurring in different programs. The minimum requirements are 15 unique hours 3/4000 level in one major and a total of 139 combined hours.
If 15 unique hours are not available in one major, additional hours to meet this requirement must be approved by the department chairperson. Students earning concurrent degrees will be charged two graduation application fees when the application is processed and will receive two diplomas upon successful completion of both degree requirements.
A double major is when a student earns more than one major within one bachelor’s degree in the same program. Students earning a double major will only be charged one graduation application fee when they are tentatively cleared to graduate and will only receive one diploma upon successful completion of all degree requirements.
Note: Only one application is required for both concurrent degrees and double majors. For more information and details regarding requirements, see your academic adviser.
Academic certificates may be earned alongside an undergraduate bachelor’s degree or alone. There is no application fee when applying for a certificate only, but there is an application required. Certificates are awarded and recorded on the official university transcript but there is no diploma or printed certificate given to the student.
- Students should apply for graduation prior to the semester in which they plan to graduate. They should apply no later than July 1 for fall graduation; no later than November 1 for spring graduation; and, no later than March 1 for summer graduation in order to avoid an additional late fee.
- There is no application fee when applying for a certificate only, but there is an application required.
- The early graduation fee is $45. Applying after the priority deadline will incur an additional $25 fee, totaling $70.
- Application fees are charged to the student’s bursar account once the application has been processed. For more information on paying fees, see the Bursar Office.
- Students must complete a new application and will be charged a graduation fee for every semester they apply, regardless of the reason for applying again. The graduation fee, along with all other outstanding balances, must be paid before the diploma will be released (paid in person, by mail or by web payment).

When Degrees are Posted
If there are no missing requirements, transcripts reflecting notations of degrees earned in the previous semester are available approximately one week after the close of each term (fall, spring and summer). For the exact end of semester dates, refer to our deadlines page.
Students who complete their degree requirements should receive diplomas by mail approximately five-six weeks following the last day of class in the semester in which they graduate.
