Requirements/Expectations of URA Grant Student Recipients

  1. At least one student on the team must be a full-time undergraduate student, with at least 12 credit hours completed at UCO by the application deadline. Preference will be given to proposals engaging first- and second-year students.
  2. It is recommended that each student enroll in two credit hours of research independent study during two semesters of the grant funding period (e.g., fall, spring, or summer) for a total of four credit hours during the funding period. During the independent study hours, students are expected to complete preparatory work including readings before departure, research discussions with the faculty mentor, final research project design, foreign travel plans for data collection, and/or post-trip work including data analysis, and submission of final results and research outcomes for conference and/or journal submission.
  3. Funded students and faculty mentors are required to present their research at Oklahoma Research Day and encouraged to submit their research to conferences and journals. An acknowledgment of the grant must appear in all presentations, posters, and publications resulting from the funded project.

If documentation is not received by the deadline each semester the recipients may be ineligible for future disbursement of funding from the grant.
  6. It is the recipients' responsibility to inform OHIP of any address, phone, or email changes during the grant period.

Students are eligible to receive funding, under the following conditions:

  • Have a minimum of 2.5 GPA for undergraduate students and 3.0 GPA for graduate students; and,
  • Each student must have a mentor who is a full-time employee of the University of Central Oklahoma.

Each student is eligible for only a single award during a given academic year but is eligible to reapply for an award each academic year as long as they meet all other conditions.
