The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust is pleased to offer the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline, a FREE service for all Oklahomans with a desire to stop smoking or using other tobacco products.
Through the Helpline, UCO students, employees as well as the general public receive one-on-one "quit coaching," specialized materials, and referrals to community resources. Callers interested in receiving follow-up can enroll in the Helpline's multiple call program in which they will receive a series of telephone based coaching sessions with the same Quit Coach throughout their quitting process.
Participants in the multiple call program may also receive free nicotine patches, or gum, or they may be referred to their health insurance plan or health care professional for additional treatment.

Skilled Mercy providers can assist students, employees, and the general public with medical needs related to tobacco cessation. Clinic is located in the Wellness Center, Room 105. Hours of Operation include Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm.

UCO Employee Assistance Program
UCO employees are encouraged to contact the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for help with smoking cessation. UCO's EAP is facilitated by Mercy Health and provides short-term counseling, web based programs, eCounselor (electronic confidential consultation) and other related services. There is no cost or co-pay to UCO employees. Employees can receive up to six free counseling sessions per issue.

The Student Counseling Center provides free confidential counseling to UCO students. The Counseling Center can provide student counseling sessions for the stress often associated with tobacco cessation. The Center is located in Room 402 of the Nigh University Center.

ALA Freedom from Smoking Online Program
Freedom From Smoking® (FFS) was developed by the American Lung Association® and is a smoking cessation program. The program is identified as the gold standard in adult smoking cessation programs.
The program consist of eight modules that cover a variety of topics including: a program overview, understanding the smoking habit, building motivation to quit, substitute behaviors to smoking, stress management, celebrations, weight management, and more! The program takes participants through a behavior change modification plan which includes activities such as journaling, goal setting, and rewards.
UCO students, employees, and the general public are invited to participate in the Spring 2013 FFS program, starting January 23rd. The program will be held from Noon to 1 pm in the Wellness Center and is facilitated by Susan Adair, certified ALA FFS facilitator. To aid in the quitting process, participants will also receive a 12 week supply of nicotine gum. Program fee is$10.
