Program Overview

Through our partnerships with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) at Ft Sill, OKC VA and the Edmond Community, the UCO Military Sport Program helps service men, women and veterans who have sustained physical injuries such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, visual impairment/blindness and stroke, to transition to a healthy active lifestyle.

We do this by offering various Paralympic sport based programs as well as other recreational programs, which cater to varying groups of individuals who have different levels of ability.

Adventure Therapy

The Adventure Therapy Program provides injured service men and women from the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) at Ft. Sill the opportunity to experience Paralympic sport based activities. These include sitting volleyball, cycling, kayaking, air rifle shooting, archery and other Paralympic sports.

In 2013-2014, we are hoping to hold eight camps serving a total of 72 athletes.  The camps are funded by the military sport program and are at no cost to athletes. Hopeful camps for 2013-2014 include powerlifting, archery, kayak canoe, cycling and another medal potential sport to be decided.
