Instructional Programs

Instructional programs are non-credit fitness classes that provide personal enrichment, training and skill building, and are intensive in nature.  The instructors are certified within their discipline and have many years of experience teaching.

Instructional programs are available to all UCO students and employees, as well as the general public. Participants must be at least 18 years of age or older to participate.

Fall 2014 Programs

Senior Sensations

This fitness class is designed for the older adult who want to improve functional strength and balance in a positive environment. Music requests taken to customize the class just for you~ sensational! This class will use chairs for added balance and stability.
 
Days/Times: Mondays, 9:45- 10:30 a.m.
 
Program Dates: October 27-November 17.
 
Class Location: Wellness Center Room 104.
 
Instructor: Maria Roettger, MA, LPC, CPT, GFI, CHC.
 
Fees: $39.

Bah! Humbug! Bounce it Off! Holiday Stress Down!

Escape the hustle and bustle and get out of your fitness rut in this fun and effective workout! Enjoy a Ball Bonanza during the first half of class while you bounce off holiday excess, improve your strength, core stability and flexibility using stability balls, bosu balls and medicine balls! Then reward yourself with the joy of blissful full body stretching and relaxation utilizing yoga and mind-body modalities. As a bonus, receive educational “holiday toolbox” handouts that will provide useful tips on how to deal with common stressors during the holidays! The ultimate self-care experience during the holiday season! Who knew keeping the holiday pounds at bay could be so fun!

JahRation Nation

A unique combination of robust, dynamic movement laced with reggae, dance-hall and West African influences. This high-energy class is coupled with bouts of H.I.T.T. and body weight training.
 
Days/Times: Sundays, 5- 6:15 p.m.

POUND fit


POUND is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, plyometrics and Isometric poses into a 45-minute series. Burn between 400 and 900+ calories per hour, strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles, and drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique – all while rocking out to your favorite music!
 
Days/Times: Saturdays, 11:30 am- 12:15 pm.
 
Program Dates: November 1-November 22
