The University of Central Oklahoma continually strives to enhance the well-being of faculty and staff through offering a variety of programs and services. The mission of the employee wellness program is to improve the health of our faculty and staff through encouraging and supporting employees to participate in living a healthy lifestyle, by providing diverse programs to meet a range of health needs, recognizing employees for their healthy lifestyle efforts and initiatives, and developing a positive culture that celebrates and is focused on the overall quality of life improvement for all employees. Each month the employee wellness website will have new programs being offered to faculty and staff, events, and other useful information to help faculty and staff maintain and improve their health.
Blue Cross Blue Shield will be offering a new program created to support and motivate members throughout their lifelong journey of healthy living. The Well onTarget program will debut in January 2013. Well onTarget offers an expanded array of highly personalized programs and resources to help and support all members, regardless of where you may be on the lifelong path to health and wellness.
The engaging new Liveon Member Wellness Portal will provide support and motivation through interactive tools, trackers and resources such as online courses, wellness content and an enhanced Health Assessment. Please visit www.bcbsok.com for more information starting January 2013.
The Central Faculty and Staff Fun Run/Walk will take place in Spring 2013. Participants can choose to run and/or walk 1.5 miles or 5 kilometers. More information to come.
The Fitness & Nutrition Coaching program offers Central employees a unique opportunity to improve their health and fitness through wellness coaching.
As part of the program, employees receive FREE fitness assessments, individualized workout-out plans, fitness training sessions, nutrition support groups, and incentive prizes. Each employee is partnered with a student majoring in Exercise Fitness Management and Nutrition/Dietetics here at UCO. The student serves as the employee's 'wellness coach' for the eight week programs with a goal to educate and motivate.
