Meet the Instructors


Danielle D.

Danielle holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Oklahoma, and serves as the Assistant Director of Fitness & Health for the UCO Wellness Center.  Danielle has over 18 years of experience teaching and leading exercise instruction and group fitness classes.  Danielle holds several fitness certifications including AFAA Primary Group Exercise Instructor Certification, Les Mills® BodyPump™ Instructor Certification, and Schwinn® Indoor Cycle Coach.  Danielle is passionate about mentoring new group fitness instructors and creating friendly environments that support exercise adherence and group cohesion.

Danielle S.

Dani is completing a Master’s Degree in Wellness Management-Exercise Science, and serves as the Graduate Peer Health Leader for the UCO student body.  She teaches Yoga and Pilates for UCO and has been teaching university group fitness for over six years.  Dani encourages her participants to take a holistic approach to reaching their fitness goals and to make the most out of each class.  

Denise

Denise holds her group fitness certification through AFAA and holds a Zumba® certification.  She has been teaching group fitness for 10 years and has a great love for what she does.  Denise's class in combination or principles from yoga and pilates added in with her own style and flare.

Emilee

Emilee holds a Master’s Degree in Wellness Management-Exercise Science. She teaches Cycle for UCO and holds a YMCA Group Exercise Certification in addition to LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Instructor Certification.  Emilee is passionate about helping her participants reach their fitness goals through a fun and energetic class environment and takes a coaching approach to teaching group fitness.

Fatemah

Fatemah holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health and serves as a Grants Coordinator in the Office of Research & Grants at UCO. She moved from Arizona to Oklahoma in June 2013 and over the past year taught Zumba classes at various locations including a personal training facility, yoga studio, and recreation center in the city of Chandler, Arizona. She was licensed by Beto Perez, the creator of the Zumba fitness program, in March 2012. She is extremely passionate about Zumba and the students that take her class. She treats every class like a party but you can be guaranteed a great workout in her class!

Kary

Kary holds a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science, in addition to 11 group exercise certifications. Kary loves connecting with others through the wonderful world of fitness and delights in making every class experience effective to help you reach your fitness goals, but also fun. The solid guarantee is you will love her music!

Kelly

Kelly was born and raised in Colorado where she received her Associates Degree in Stenography. She holds an AFAA personal trainer’s license, Les Mills® BodyPump™, and CXWorx certificates, YMCA YASA aquatics, Zumba and teaches Cycle.   Fitness is not only a hobby, but is a way of life, encouraging all age groups to improve their health and lifestyle in a fun and positive environment.  Kelly is married to an US Air Force pilot, has one daughter, and achieved a life-long goal of becoming a private pilot in 2007. 

Kristi

Kristi holds a Bachelor's Degree in Language Arts Education from the University of Oklahoma and currently teaches Computer Science at St. Eugene Catholic School in Oklahoma City.  She is certified in Les Mills Body Pump and also trains soccer players and goalkeepers in her free time.  Kristi feels that fitness is essential to the mind, body, and soul of an athlete, and she is always looking to better herself physically. She hopes you are as excited as she is to bring Body Pump to the UCO Wellness Center, and she cannot wait to interact with participants in a group fitness setting!

Mikaela

While in college at the University of Nebraska, Mikaela took an Introduction to Fitness class where she found her love for creating routines and teaching group fitness. She holds certifications in multiple formats, including Les Mills Body Pump, Reebok Spinning, Boot Camp, Body Sculpt, Kick Boxing, Yoga, Yoga Ball, Pilates, and Stability Ball/Core Training.  Mikaela also assists in training those preparing for their first run such Beginner Runners, 5k’s, 10k’s, etc.  In addition to serving as a Group Fitness Instructor, Mikaela is the Area Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma in Norman, where is she also starting her 12th year as  BIG SISTER with the organization. She is also an Alumni and currently Advisor for Alpha Phi Sorority.

Miranda

Miranda is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Art History and Museum Studies at the University of Central Oklahoma. She teaches Zumba Fitness for the UCO Wellness Center, and has been a teaching since November 2011. In addition to a Zumba Certification, Miranda holds YMCA Group Exercise Certification. Miranda is incredibly passionate about Zumba and her students that join her class.  She is looking for anyone who enjoys culture, dance, music, and style to attend her classes this semester and throughout the school year.

Monica

Monica holds certifications in Zumba®, Zumba® Gold, Aqua® Zumba, and Zumbatomic.  She has a background in dance, and a passion for group fitness both as a participant and instructor.  Her Latina roots give her class a fun Latin flare for people of all fitness levels to enjoy!

Nicole

Nicole is working on her Master's Degree in Wellness Management-Exercise Science, and enjoys being a Teaching Assistant for the Kinesiology & Health Studies Department on campus. She leads the Cycle class here at UCO, and also has experience with circuit training, boot camp style classes, and kickboxing. Her certifications include: NASM Certified Personal Trainer, NFPA Indoor Cycling, and NFPA Group Fitness Instructor. Nicole is a high-energy, out-going, fun instructor, that loves to crank up the music and sweat! She has a wide background in fitness, a vast experience working with various populations, and can tailor any exercise to fit you! 

Shae

Shae developed her passion for health and fitness in college while working a fitness and nutrition camp in California for three summers. After living in Spain and working in the ‘real world’ she has decided to follow her passion and pursue a Master’s Degree in Wellness Management and serves as the Employee Wellness Specialist for the UCO Wellness Center.  Exercise Science.  Shae is a certified Level I CrossFit Coach and a NASM Certified Personal Trainer.  Her favorite fitness motto to live by is “fit is not a destination- it’s a way of life”.  Whether you workout every day or you have never worked out a day in your life you can expect to have a fun and challenging experience and see results.  Shea will motivate and train you to be the person you would like to become!
