Meet University Relations Staff Members:

Charlie Johnson, Vice President for University Relations

After more than 20 years as an anchor, reporter and news director in Seattle and Oklahoma City, Charlie joined Central in 2000 as the News Bureau Director, and was named as Executive Director of University Relations in 2007. In 2010, Charlie was named Vice President for University Relations, and is an active member of the President's Cabinet, the Crisis Management Team, the CARE Team, the Budget Task Force and is involved in a number of other university-wide initiatives and committees. He oversees and supervises all activities and personnel in the University Relations Office, serves as the university spokesperson and is directly involved in Central's media relations as well as branding and marketing efforts for the university. Charlie also serves his community as an active member of the Edmond Urban Development Board. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and holds a bachelor's degree in Speech Communications and Journalism.

Adrienne Nobles, Assistant Vice President for University Relations

Adrienne brings more than 10 years of experience in public relations, marketing and communications to the the University Relations staff. She manages and writes releases for the Central News Bureau, serves as a media liaison and spokesperson, and directs the creative development and implementation of advertising, marketing and branding initiatives at Central. Her past experience includes work in public relations and marketing for the UCO Foundation, Central's College of Arts, Media & Design, and TAParchitecture. A graduate of Western Kentucky University's School of Journalism and Broadcasting, Adrienne also worked for several years in radio and television broadcasting as an anchor, reporter and producer in various markets in Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. Adrienne is also an active community volunteer, serving in various capacities for the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Lyric Theatre, the Arts Council of Oklahoma City, the deadCenter Film Festival, the OKC Boathouse Foundation and St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She is an alumnae adviser for her sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, and a member of the Junior League of Oklahoma City.

Craig Beuchaw, Art Director

A native Oklahoman, Craig graduated from Central in 1992 and began his career in graphic design working for Oklahoma City advertising agencies before joining University Relations in 1995. An award-winning designer, he designs and oversees the graphic production of printed university materials, including brochures, posters, logos, newsletters and more, handling all requests for designing and producing university materials.

Gypsy Hogan, Publications Editor

With more than 20 years experience in publication production, Gypsy oversees a number of Central publications, including Old North for the Central Alumni Association; Central Intelligence, a quarterly publication distributed to local and state leaders as well as elected officials; the Central commencement programs; plus other projects as needed to meet the university's communications and marketing needs. She has a Central bachelor's degree in Journalism.

Dan Smith, Photographic Services

Daniel captures the visual story of Central, shooting photos for university publications, news releases, advertisements and more. His award-winning photographs of campus activities and events also document UCO's history for future generations of Bronchos. His office also provides photographic services to all university departments. He has a B.A. and M.Ed. from Central.

Courtney Harlin, Staff Writer

Courtney keeps the local community up-to-date on all the great happenings at UCO by telling Central's story through numerous press releases. She is a life-long Oklahoman who joined the University Relations team in August 2012 after graduating from Central with a journalism degree. While a student at UCO she was heavily involved as a leader and active member in over 20 different organizations, including Student Programming Board, Homecoming Activities Board and a writer for the campus newspaper, The Vista. In the summer of 2011 she interned at Edmond Life and Leisure. There, she took photos for the paper, helped with advertisement sales and wrote for their seasonal magazine, At Home. She also has experience designing posters and planning public relations for university-wide events. Outside of the office Courtney has strong Broncho Pride and is an active and involved employee serving as Alumni Sailing Team co-coach and Earth Day Committee member.

Brian Alexander, Graphic Designer

As an award winning designer, Brian designs, illustrates and produces printed University materials from brochures and posters to logos and newsletters. Brian has more than 12 years experience in graphic design and had worked for numerous design companies in Austin and Houston, TX and was the most recently the Art Director for the Oklahoma Press Association before joining Central. Brian graduated from Central with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and a minor in Illustration.

Beth Buesing, Executive Office Assistant

Beth keeps University Relations running like a well oiled machine - in other words, she is vital to the overall functionality of the office. She is responsible for managing office budgets, numerous administrative duties, is coordinator of Central's master calendar and sends news releases to various media outlets. Beth has been with University Relations since 2000, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2001 and a master's degree in Adult Education in 2006.

Phillip Dunford, Coordinator of Online Publications

With more than a decade of experience as a writer, Phillip oversees Centralities and UCONNECT, UCO's daily email campus news services; coordinates and updates the university's master calendar; and assists the publication editor with proofing and editing Old North magazine, Central Intelligence, Living Central, and Central's commencement programs. He is a proud alumnus who holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Central.

Sam Ferguson, Videographer

Sam shoots and edits video for various Central departments. A proud Broncho, he graduated from Central in 2006 with a degree in broadcasting with a emphasis in production. During his academic career at Central, Sam won the 2006 Department of Academic Broadcasting Production Award. Prior to joining the University Relations team, Sam worked at KWTV in Oklahoma City as a production assistant, operating cameras for the morning newscast.

Jonathan Smith, Staff Photographer

Jonathan helps share Central's story through the lens of a camera. He shoots photos of campus events and activities for university publications, news releases, advertisements, historical documentation and more. He also provides photographic services to all Central departments. Jonathan has a B.A. from Central.

Monica Helms, Coordinator, Social Media/Web Marketing

Brent Fuchs, Photo Technician

Brent shares his vision of Central through his photographic talents. His love of photography began early, and in 2001 he graduated from Northern Oklahoma College with an AAS in Photography. Pursuing his education further, Brent then enrolled at Central, and in 2005 graduated with a bachelor's degree in Journalism-Photographic Arts. Brent then worked as a freelance photographer in the Oklahoma City area before finally returning to Central as a Photo Technician.
