LockDown Browser Quickstart Guides (For Students and Faculty)
About the LockDown Browser
The LockDown browser is an application developed by Respondus to help curb academic dishonesty during online exams.
Respondus LockDown Browser increases faculty confidence in online testing by creating a secure, locked testing environment for students within the Learn@UCO course.
Faculty have the choice to use the LockDown Browser within their Learn@UCO section quizzes and exams. The LockDown Browser setting is turned off by default.
Students are given the option to install the LockDown Browser from within the assessment that requires it. It is a small program that installs on the local computer and is then able to be launched to take the assessments.
Benefits
From within the Respondus LockDown Browser environment, students are unable to:
print or copy tests
visit other URLs or access other applications once they have begun the assessment.
use search engines to find answers online
send instant messages to classmates
access other areas of the online course
exit the test until it is submitted for grading
