MICROSOFT

Windows 7 (2 hours)
This session will provide an overview of the new features in Windows 7.  You will see how to accomplish tasks already familiar to you, as well as learn how several new features can improve your computing experience.

Word 2010

Essentials (2 hours)
This hands-on session will show you how to use Word 2010 to create and format documents, as well as how to use themes, styles, and other features.

Intermediate (2 hours)
In this class, you will learn advanced formatting, use drawing tools, create & manage tables, & work with column layouts.  Before attending this class, you should already be able to create, edit, and print documents.

Advanced (2 hours)
In this class, you will learn advanced techniques, such as working with tables of contents, footnotes & endnotes, adding comments, tracking changes, & protecting documents.

Excel 2010

Essentials (2 hours)
In this class, you will create and edit basic worksheets and workbooks.  This course is designed for those who want to gain the necessary skills to create, edit, format, and print basic Excel worksheets.

Intermediate (2 hours)
This class is meant for those who want to advance their skill set by learning to work with advanced formulas, lists, and illustrations.  You will also work with charts and advanced formatting including styles.

Advanced (2 hours)
This training class is designed for students to gain the skills necessary to use pivot tables, audit and analyze worksheet data, utilize data tools, & collaborate with others.

PowerPoint 2010

Essentials (2 hours)
This class is designed for those who are interested in learning the fundamentals needed to create and modify basic presentations. You will explore the PowerPoint environment and create a presentation.

Advanced (2 hours)
This class is designed for those who are interested in learning the fundamentals needed to create and modify basic presentations. You will explore the PowerPoint environment and create a presentation.

Publisher 2010 Fundamentals (2 hours)
In this class, you will learn to create, format, edit, and distribute publications.  It is intended for those that already have a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows and Word.

Apple Authorized Foundations Courses

iOS Devices (6 hours)
Participants gain experience using iOS devices such as iPad or iPod touch. They learn basic navigation and explore key accessibility features and apps as they apply to teaching and learning.

Learning outcomes for this workshop include:

  • Explore basic navigation, native apps, and accessibility features of iPad or iPod touch
  • Learn how iOS devices can be used as personal tools for teaching and learning
  • Discover how to personalize learning with iOS devices, apps, and iTunes U

iOS Creativity (6 hours)
Participants gain fundamental skills with iOS creativity apps (iPhoto, GarageBand, and iMovie).

Learning outcomes for this workshop include:

  • Experience the various ways iOS creativity apps can be used in teaching and learning
  • Learn to create and share multimedia journals, slideshows, different types of audio recordings, and movies
  • Explore how iTunes U and other learning resources can enhance today’s teaching and learning

iOS Productivity (6 hours)
Participants gain fundamental skills with iOS productivity apps (Keynote, Pages, and Numbers).

Learning outcomes for this workshop include:

  • Experience the various ways productivity apps can be used in teaching and learning
  • Learn to create and share content by making a multimedia presentation, a brochure or newsletter, and a data analysis and presentation
  • Use apps to customize student learning activities by addressing different learning styles, working strategies, and abilities

OS X (6 hours)
Participants gain fundamental skills with the built-in applications and features of OS X as they apply to teaching and learning and professional productivity.

Learning outcomes for this workshop include:

  • Explore basic navigation, native applications, and accessibility features of OS X
  • Understand how to use OS X to collaborate, create, and communicate

iLife (6 hours)
Participants gain fundamental skills with iLife applications (iPhoto, GarageBand, and iMovie).

Learning outcomes for this workshop include:

  • Understand the fundamentals of iPhoto, GarageBand, and iMovie
  • Get experience creating and sharing slideshows and storybooks, different types of podcasts, and movies
  • Explore how iTunes U and other learning resources can enhance today’s teaching and learning

iWork (6 hours)
Participants gain fundamental skills with iWork applications including Keynote, Pages, and Numbers.

Learning outcomes for this workshop include:

  • Understand the fundamentals of iWork applications
  • Get experience creating and sharing content with each iWork application: Create a multimedia presentation using Keynote; a brochure or newsletter (or both) using Pages; and a data collection and analysis project using Numbers

iBooks Author (6 hours)
Participants will gain a fundamental understanding of creating interactive content and publishing with iBooks Author, focusing on best practices for engagement and learning.

  • Leverage content created in iWork and iLife applications
  • Create and publish content in iBooks Author
  • Share ideas for using iTunes U courses to enhance learning

iTunes U Course Manager (6 hours)
Participants will gain a fundamental understanding of curating content and publishing with iTunes U Course Manager.

Learning outcomes for this workshop include:

  • Experience iTunes U courses from the perspective of a course participant
  • Understand how to organize and publish content using iTunes U Course Manager
  • Use iTunes U courses to enhance learning experiences

ADOBE

Adobe Acrobat Pro (2 hours)
Acrobat Pro allows you to create and share PDF documents.  This session will provide an overview of how to use Acrobat Pro to easily create PDF documents from a variety of sources.

Banner Navigation (30 minutes)
Basic overview of how to navigate through the system.

UCONNECT for Employees (30 minutes)
Introduction to the Employee option under Broncho Central Services in the system. 

WEB TOOLS

Broncho Blogs (1.5 hours)
Broncho Blogs are a great way to share information online.  Once you have requested your Broncho Blog, attend this hands-on training session to help get you on your way.

Wiki Central (1.5 hours)
Wiki Central is a great resource for course or department collaboration.  This session will demonstrate how Wiki Central can greatly facilitate communication and coordination of team projects.

Collaborate Web Conferencing (2 hours)
This course will prepare you to create and moderate Collaborate rooms for web conferencing.  Collaborate web conferencing rooms can be accessed through the D2L Online Rooms tool or directly through Collaborate for non-course purposes.

Web Content Management System (WCMS) Essentials (1.5 hours)
If you are tasked with creating, editing, or maintaining one of the many UCO website pages but don't know where to begin, this training session is for you. In this session you will learn how to navigate the Web Content Management System (WCMS), create and edit web pages on your site, copy and paste content, create links to other Web pages, upload and add files, add images, and publish your Website. Prior to attending this session, you must fill out and have your manager sign a printed copy of the WCMS Access Request Form. Submit the form electronically as soon before the training as possible, and bring the signed copy of the form with you to the training. Attendance at this session is required for enrollment into the WCMS Advanced training session.

Web Content Management System (WCMS) Advanced (1.5 hours)
PREREQUISITE: Web Content Management Essentials. In this session, UCO Website contributors and editors learn advanced Web Content Management System functions, including how to create content blocks and lightboxes to enhance your Website pages, follow the UCO style guidelines, ensure web pages are Section 508 compliant, work with various website assets, reorder content, create email links and tables, embed videos, and much more.

ACADEMIC TECHNOLOGIES

D2L Fundamentals (3 hours)
This course is an orientation to using the Learn@UCO (D2L) system.  Topics include navigation, setting profile, preferences, and notifications, using D2L email, calendar, and pager, and an introduction to D2L course tools.

D2L In-depth Courses (1 hour each)
Each course provides a detailed overview of each of the following D2L course tools:

  • Course Management Tools

SMART Board Fundamentals (2 hours)
This training provides an overview of the information you need to begin using that SMART Board in your classroom.  Included is how to get started, orienting the SMART Board, a guide to the Floating Tools, and simple hands-on activities.

SMART Notebook (2 hours)
Notebook is designed to use with a SMART Board interactive whiteboard.  This hands-on session will help you manipulating objects, working with the Gallery, and enhancing the appearance of your SMART Notebook files.

SoftChalk Essentials (2 hours)
SoftChalk enables you to easily create high quality e-learning content.  This session will show you how to use SoftChalk to create professional-looking lesson content, interactive quizzes, learning games and activities, and more.

Respondus: Easily Create Online or Print Exams (2 hours)
This session will demonstrate how to easily create online exams that can be loaded directly into Blackboard CE8 courses or printed.  This session will also demonstrate how to require students to use the Respondus LockDown Browser to increase exam security.
