Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Central
October 15-19, 2012
Breast Cancer Awareness Week is a campus-wide initiative designed to increase awareness of Breast Cancer and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure.

Saturday, October 6
Wantland Stadium – 1:00 p.m.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Athletics Department will honor breast cancer survivors at halftime of this Saturday's football game. To be acknowledged, email Courtney James at cjames24@uco.edu by noon Friday, Oct. 5. Survivors will receive a UCO Pin and a "Bronchos for the Cure" T-shirt courtesy of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Join the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha as they promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle in a fun and interactive way! Living a healthy lifestyle will make every day more enjoyable, give you more energy, and more important help in the prevention of diseases such as breast cancer. This walk is to raise awareness of breast cancer and provide proceeds for the Susan G. Komen foundation. All donations will be accepted and everyone is invited to wear pink and come participate in the walk.

Breast Dressed Contest

W.O.M.E.N. and the Women's Outreach Center invite the Central community to participate in a fun event that addresses a serious issue - breast cancer. UCO departments, offices, and student organizations are invited to decorate a bra in their own unique style to raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure Central and Western Oklahoma. Lady in Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness Forum
Tuesday, October 23rd

Wear your favorite pink article of clothing or accessary and attend the interactive "Lady in Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness forum. This discussion will provide information about healthy living, which could reduce the chances of breast cancer, and will also provide in-depth information about what to look for in self-examinations. You will also hear from a breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed in her early thirties and how she is now dedicated to informing other young women about breast cancer. Light refreshments provided.

Thriving & Surviving: Tribute Concert & Balloon Release

Throughout the week faculty, staff, and students are invited to donate $1 for a balloon in memory or in honor of someone who has battled, died from or survived breast cancer. Join W.O.M.E.N. in collaboration with Big Pink and SPB as they conclude the week with music and inspirational speeches. The balloons will then be released.
