Big Pink Volleyball

Big Pink Volleyball is a week long philanthropic volleyball tournament with one giant twist- it is played with a four foot pink volleyball.  In its first year, Big Pink raised $3110.02 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure-Central and Western Oklahoma.  In its second year, Big Pink raised $4035.63, bringing its two year total to $7145.65.  These proceeds were able to go directly to women and men that are affected by breast cancer in the Central Oklahoma Area.

The 2013 Tournament is scheduled to take place Monday March 4 through Thursday March 7 with Paint the Campus Pink Week taking place the week before.  Continue to check back for more details on the tournament!

2012 Paint the Campus Pink Week

The 2nd Annual Paint the Campus Pink Week will take place prior to the Big Pink Tournament.  Throughout the week, you can join the Central Community for a series of fun and educational programs that help spread awareness about the dangers of breast cancer.  

Monday February 13

Pink Rally – 11am-1pm – NUC 2^nd Floor

Join the Big Pink Committee as they spread the word about the tournament and hand out educational materials.  For $1, you can also make your own button in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure-Central and Western Oklahoma.  All proceeds will benefit the local affiliate and will go to ending breast cancer forever.

Tuesday February 14

Valentine’s Day Card Making and “Paint the Cookie Pink” – NUC 2^nd Floor

Campus Activities is sponsoring this opportunity for you to create Valentine’s cards for your loved ones.  Additionally, you have the chance to decorate a cookie with our pink frosting, pink sprinkles, and more!

Wednesday February 15

Pink Eggs and Ham – 11am – 1pm – Broncho Lake Blue Tent

Do you like pink eggs and ham?  This is your chance to get in the Dr. Seuss-themed spirit by feasting on some pink eggs and ham! 

Big Pink Zumbathon – 6:30pm – Hamilton Field House

Help dance your way to the cure at the first Big Pink Zumbathon!  Continue to check back for more details as we develop this program!

Big Pink on the Rocks – 7pm – 9pm – UCO Wellness Center

JJoin us at the UCO Wellness Center for Big Pink on the Rocks!  Attendees will have the opportunity to do a night climb on the rock wall, tie-dye t-shirts pink, ride on a Halo Jumber and fly 100 feet in the air, and much more!!

 Thursday February 16

UCO Pink Day – All Day

Join in the fight against breast cancer by wearing pink!  Faculty and staff are invited to pay $5 to dress down in jeans and pink (if you have it) while students are invited to do the same for free.  Participants will receive a custom button for participating in this event.  All proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure- Central and Western Oklahoma. 

Big Pink Kickoff Event – 11am-1pm – NUC 2^nd Floor

Celebrate the start of Big Pink Volleyball at this year’s Big Pink Kickoff Event!  Susan G. Komen will be on hand passing out information while the Big Pink Committee will be giving out pink cotton candy, pink popcorn, pink lemonade, and more!  This is also your chance to turn in registration packets for this year’s tournament!  Remember, the first 200 people to submit their entry forms will receive a free Big Pink headband!

“Can Breast Cancer Affect Me?” – Presented by Susan G. Komen for the Cure – 12pm – NUC Will Rogers Room

Join us for this educational program presented by representatives from Susan G. Komen for the Cure to learn more about how breast cancer can affect you.  Free lunch will be provided but space is limited to 40 people.  To RSVP, email cjames24@uco.edu. 

Pink Zone Basketball Games – 6pm and 8pm – Hamilton Field House

Athletics will be turning Hamilton Field House Pink for their annual Pink Zone Basketball Games!  We will have the Big Pink Ball on hand as we have games and prizes for you to win throughout the evening!
