Volunteer and Service Learning Center

The Volunteer and Service Learning Center at UCO provides diverse opportunities for students to perform meaningful service in the Edmond and Oklahoma City communities. The Center acts as a partner and resource for students, faculty and community members in developing and implementing volunteer and service learning projects. These efforts promote civic engagement by instilling a commitment to public life through communities of practice.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Sign up for the EBLAST on the lefthand side to be updated with volunteer opportunities.  In the comments box please write "Moore" also if you are interested in leading a small team of volunteers in the weeks to come mention "Team Leader". UCO Teams are heading out starting 05/24/2013 Sign Up below and All Must Meet at the Nigh University Center 19th Hole before leaving!!!

Fresh Start Community Church (309 Eastern, in Moore) will be the basecamp today for volunteer groups from 9:00 am-2 pm and 2 pm-7 pm. Volunteers are required to wear long pants/jeans, closed toe shoes and work gloves. The Red Cross and Serve Moore (207 S. Howard St. in Moore) are heading into affected area starting at 8:30 this morning. Shawnee Clean-Up with Samaritan's Purse (30 Kin-Ville Rd. Shawnee, OK 74804) Volunteers should be prepared for hard manual labor including debris removal, tarping, cleaning up homes, and cutting and removing downed trees. 11:30am - 5:00pm To sign up click here: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/9040B4CAFAB2AA46-shawnee1 

United Way Call Center(1444 NW 28th St. OKC, OK 73106) needs volunteers from 6:30am - 10:00pm to answer phones.  Volunteers can cover two hour shifts. Call 405.523.3581 if interested.

The Red Cross is no longer seeking or training volunteers today. Other training opportunities will be posted here as they become available.

The Salvation Army Canteen is located at Home Depot, 650 SW 19th Street, Moore, OK, 73160. They need crews of 4-5 per meal. Lunch shift starts at 10 a.m. and Dinner starts at 3:00 p.m. They need volunteers for both meals and snack times in between for the next two weeks.
