Students in Distress
University faculty and staff members learn very quickly that dealing with students in distress is inevitable when working in a university setting. Regardless of your position within the university, you will at some point encounter at least one student who is overwhelmed by the stressors of his or her life. Recognizing the signs of emotional distress and taking steps to make an appropriate intervention can have a significant impact on the future of this individual. The information provided on this web site is intended to be helpful in guiding your encounters with many common student issues. It is important to remember, however, that every student is unique and for some students there is no substitute for consultation with a professional Counselor.
