Why should I consider UCO?

Where is UCO located?
The University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) is in the state of Oklahoma which is located in the south central region of the United States. Oklahoma is a wonderful place to live and study, with a low cost of living, friendly people and great business and professional opportunities. UCO is in Edmond, a thriving, beautiful and safe suburb on the northern edge of Oklahoma City. UCO is on 210 acres of land in the central part of Edmond, a few blocks from the city center and within walking distance to numerous apartments, restaurants, shops, places of worship, etc. Oklahoma City is the capital and largest city in Oklahoma, hosting many civic, cultural and sporting activities as well as the very convenient Will Rogers World Airport, connecting UCO and the metropolitan area to you and to the entire world.

UCO has been listed in US News & World Report's Best Colleges and recently saw a professor win national professor of the year honors. Does UCO have my intended major (program of study)?
UCO offers Bachelor's degrees in more than 110 individual majors in the most popular fields of interest today. How much does UCO cost?
UCO is one of the most affordable four year public universities in the entire US. Combined with the state of Oklahoma's relatively low cost of living, pursuing an education at UCO is one of the most cost benefiting endeavors for an international student in this country. At the present, I-20 total costs for international students remain less than $18000 per year (two semesters). This figure includes tuition, fees, health insurance, housing, food, books and incidental costs. What a deal!
Does UCO offer scholarships?
UCO does offer scholarships through its various departments and offices. Through the Office of International Services, UCO offers some initial scholarships to some of its best applicants. Still other students win scholarship money in different ways after having studied at UCO for at least one semester and exhibiting their excellence. Please contact the Office of International Services for more info on scholarships.
Can I work while I study at UCO?
US immigration policy allows international students to work part-time on-campus while studying at UCO. Students can learn more about the process of searching for on-campus employment after arriving to campus.
How do I apply to UCO?
We accept applications online or through one of our exclusive international educational representatives. Please inquire of our Office of International Services to find out whether one of these representatives Is located near you.
Can I begin applying without having all the required documents?
Yes, you can begin the application process even if you are still awaiting some documentation. Once we receive an application from you, we will begin a file for you and will keep that file open until you send us all the required materials. Only after we receive a complete application packet from you (all required materials) will we then finalize our admission evaluation of you.
Does UCO have application deadlines?
UCO will accept applicants on a rolling admission basis.
What GPA does UCO require for admission?
UCO requires that beginning freshmen (first year students who have not previously attended university) achieve at least a 2.7/4.0 GPA or its equivalent. Transfer students must achieve the minimum GPA as below to be considered for admission:
- Transfer from an accredited community college or university within the United States: 2.00/4.00
- Transfer from an accredited college or university outside the United States which has an official Transfer Agreement with UCO: 2.00/4.00
- Transfer from an accredited college or university outside the United States which has NO official Transfer Agreement with UCO: 2.50/4.00
What TOEFL/IELTS score does UCO require for admission?
Students seeking admission to UCO must meet one of the following English proficiency requirements:
- TOEFL IBT 61
- TOEFL PBT 500
- IELTS 5.5
Applicants not obtaining one of these scores will be considered to have met the English proficiency requirement by completing:
- 12 weeks of continuous and intensive English language study at an approved English language school subsequent to obtaining one of the following:
- TOEFL IBT 48
- TOEFL PBT 460
- IELTS 5.0
Does UCO offer any conditional admission if I do not have any TOEFL or IELTS?
