National University of Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) was established on 27 May 01 1995 by Decree 16/CP of the Government on the basis of nine universities classified into eight member universities and officially launched on 6 May 02, 1996

At present, VNU-HCM includes 06 member universities, 01 research institutes, 01 faculties and several research centers and services: Polytechnic University, University of Natural Sciences, University of Science Social Studies - Humanities, International University, University of Information Technology, University of Economics - Law, Institute for Environment - Natural Resources, Department of Medicine, Software Technology Park, Central Library, the Center International Training Center Dormitory Management, Center for Testing and Quality Assessment Training, Political Theory Center, National Defense Education Center, Center for Foreign Languages, and contact the Service Center Investment Promotion, Center for Training and Human Resource Development. In addition, Schools Gifted VNU-HCM is responsible for training gifted students in the fields of Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, English.
