Welcome to the Centre for Global Competency

Are you ready for an adventure?

The Centre for Global Competency (CGC) is unlike any study abroad program you have ever encountered. Not only does the CGC provide opportunities to study in such places as France, Mexico and China while being enrolled at UCO, but also have fully paid internships in such places as Korea and Spain. The CGC was born out of UCO's mission of transformative learning. This means that we want you to experience something that you've never experienced before. Ultimately, we would like you not only to become a globally competent individual, but also achieve the prestigious Global Competency Certification.

We define a globally competent individual as:

"One who has encountered a world of new possibilities
and is transformed into a resilient and dynamic leader."

These possibilities include more than study abroad. You will also have the opportunity to participate in challenging international service projects, actively plan activities for international community and campus projects, and match up with an international student for a meaningful friendship and cultural language exchange. All of this is part of making you a global leader, recognized in the community, not only for your ability to move comfortably within international circles, but also because you will exhibit the characteristics of flexibility, and international leadership.

You'll also be surprised as well at how cost effective the CGC makes this for you. Through financial aid and exchange agreements, students can have a global adventure for the same amount as their on campus costs.

Come by our office and get started, or contact us below for additional information.

The CGC is a joint venture between the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of Academic Affairs.
