As University of Central Oklahoma's Athletic Director, Joe Muller brings a wealth of NCAA Division I experience to leading the Bronchos, ensuring that the student-athlete experience is the best it can be.
Under Muller's direction, Broncho Athletics has created its first long-range strategic plan, initiated an all-sport Nike apparel agreement and more than quadrupled its number of corporate partners. He also initiated the Academic Awards banquet, honoring student-athletes who achieve high marks in the classroom. During his tenure, UCO has improved its soccer, tennis and strength/conditioning areas, and renovated its locker rooms. In spring 2011, the university also hosted the NCAA South Central Basketball Regional.
Muller served as senior associate athletics director at Purdue University for two years before coming to UCO. He oversaw all facets of external relations while at Purdue, including development, marketing and promotions, the John Purdue Club and the on-campus launch of the Big Ten Network.
A graduate of Stillwater High School, Joe earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Oklahoma State University. He served as director of athletic marketing and promotions at OSU from 1985-90 and then was involved in the television industry for more than a decade.
Muller then returned to Oklahoma State as associate athletics director, serving in that capacity until going to Purdue. His duties at OSU included all development activities of the athletic department, including ticket operations, marketing and promotions and the OSU POSSE booster organization. Under Muller's watch, OSU raised more than $90 million to renovate its aging football stadium, set football attendance records in 2003, 2004 and 2005, and had all-sport ticket revenues increase more than 115 percent.
Muller lives in Edmond, is married and has three sons.
