Duties: Students will assist in the administration of Positive Tomorrows’ After school Program, which provides a safe, enriching environment for homeless students grades K-5th to spend  time after school every weekday. Positive Tomorrows is Oklahoma’s only private, tuition-free school for homeless children and aims to break the cycle of homelessness by providing quality education and family support.

Field Study Students will work closely with children enrolled in the Afterschool Program, helping them with homework, administering snack, and encouraging them throughout various enrichment activities. This program builds self-esteem, confidence, and provides opportunities our students would otherwise go without. It also keeps our students safe and out of trouble during one of the most vulnerable times of the day. Field Study Students will have the opportunity to learn about how homelessness and growing up in poverty affects our students, and how we work to reverse that to end the cycle of homelessness, as well as learning about a multitude of behavioral issues that arise. By working with some of Oklahoma City’s most underserved youth, participants will gain a better understanding of issues of homelessness, poverty, and education.
