About Mass Communication
The Department of Mass Communication has embarked on an ambitious journey to interweave the foundations of a strong collegiate education for lifelong learning with the practical preparation for professional careers with emerging and continually evolving technologies and new social media.
We offer BA degrees in Interpersonal Communication, Organizational Communication, Photographic Arts, Professional Media (Broadcasting, Journalism, Media/Video Documentary, Online Media), and Strategic Communications (Advertising, Brand Communications, Public Relations). With 23 full-time and 30 part-time faculty, our students benefit from a wide range of professional and scholarly expertise. We are passionate about our mission: “Helping Students Learn!”

The Mission of the Department of Mass Communication is to provide students with an education that emphasizes the importance of communicating, writing, critical thinking, community service, ethics, and leadership by implementing a student-centered approach supported by quality teaching and creative and scholarly activities. We believe our students should graduate with the knowledge, skills and habits that promote values for career preparation, responsible citizenship sustaining a free society, and lifelong learning in a global environment.
