Dr.Elizabeth Maier, Assistant Director School of Criminal Justice
Dr. Elizabeth Maier was born and raised in central Oklahoma. She has lived in Washington, DC, Texas, Nebraska, and Vermont. Elizabeth has spent time working for federal and state governments. She received her bachelor’s degree from the George Washington University, master’s degree from Texas A&M University and her Ph.D. in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her dissertation focused on juvenile court processing and disposition differences in urban vs. rural jurisdictions.
She joined the UCO faculty in 2011 after teaching at the University of Nebraska (Omaha & Lincoln) and Norwich University. Dr. Maier enjoys teaching and conducting research. Her research interests are in juvenile justice policy, courts and court processing, practical applications of research in the justice field, and materials to aid student learning and achievement. She is an active member in the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and Oklahoma Criminal Justice Association.
