Peer Groups

Issues of public accountability, trends toward performance-based funding,

and increasing competition are forcing institutions to place heavy emphasis

on benchmarking, performance indicators, and strategic planning activities.

A primary foundation for these efforts is to establish a list of peer

    institutions.

Depending on the elements examined, many different lists may exist, and

each list may experience modification as necessary.  Elements used to

determine peers may be numbers, classifications, best-practice activities,

consortium memberships, and anything else that might evoke a common

bond or interest.  Below are some listings of peer institutions for the
    University of Central Oklahoma.

The peer group comparisons reports below are based on IPEDS data for a
given point in time.  Please see the Factbook and Demographics books for
    UCO trends.

T
he Office of Institutional Research maintains a list of peer institutions in
    conjunction with
Academic Affairs and other divisions.  These peers were
chosen based on criteria such as enrollment, full-time faculty,
student/faculty ratio, location, and overall “fit”.  The links to the peers will
take you outside the University of Central Oklahoma website.
