Peer Groups Issues of public accountability, trends toward performance-based funding, and increasing competition are forcing institutions to place heavy emphasis on benchmarking, performance indicators, and strategic planning activities. A primary foundation for these efforts is to establish a list of peer institutions.
Depending on the elements examined, many different lists may exist, and each list may experience modification as necessary. Elements used to determine peers may be numbers, classifications, best-practice activities, consortium memberships, and anything else that might evoke a common bond or interest. Below are the most common listings of peer institutions for the University of Central Oklahoma.
