Aneurysm Needle An embalming instrument used for blunt dissection and in raising vessels that has an eye in the hook portion for placing ligatures around the vessels.

  Arterial Hemostat
 (Arterial Fixation Forcep)
An instrument used to clamp an arterial tube within the lumen of an artery.

  Arterial Hemostat &
  Stopcock
The stopcock is used to attach the delivery hose from the embalming machine to the arterial tube.  It helps regulate solution flow.

Arterial Tube A tube used to inject embalming solution into the blood vascular system.

  Bone Separator
  (Separator)
An instrument used to keep vessels elevated above the incision.

Cavity Fluid Injector The cavity fluid injector twists onto the cavity fluid bottle.  When the device is inverted, cavity fluid flows through the trocar into the body cavities.

  Chin Rest # 1

  Chin Rest # 2

Antiquated mouth closure instrument.

  Drain Tube # 1

  Drain Tube # 2
Tubular instrument of varying diameter & shape, preferably with a plunger, that is inserted into a vein to aid in drainage and to restrict the exit of vascular embalming solution

Eyecap Thin, dome-like shell made of hardened cloth, metal, or plastic placed beneath eyelids to restore natural curvature and to maintain the position of the closed eye.

Groove Director Instrument used to guide vein tubes (drain tubes) into vessels.

  Hemostat # 1
  (Locking Forceps)
An instrument used to clamp leaking vessels & hold ligature.

   Hemostat # 2
   Hemostat # 3
   Hemostat # 4

Hypovalve Trocar Designed for injection (not aspiration), the hypovalve trocar is used for direct hypodermic injection of solution into tissues.

  Hypovalve Trocar #2 More video

Iliac Drain Tube A drain tube inserted into the external iliac vein.

Incision Spreader An instrument used to hold open an incision.

Mouth Former Device used in the mouth to shape the contour of the lips.

Needle Injector Mechanical device used to impel specifically designed pins into jaw bones.

   Postmortem Aspirator # 1
   Postmortem Aspirator # 2
Used to aspirate blood and arterial fluid from the cavities of autopsied bodies.

Rib Cover Plastic covering for sharp exposed ribs.

  Scalpel # 1
  Scalpel # 2
A two-piece embalming instrument consisting of a handle and blade used to make incisions & excisions.

Spring Forceps An instrument used for grasping and holding tissues.  May be used to hold open a vein.

Trocar Sharply pointed instrument used in cavity embalming to facilitate aspiration and injection of body cavities.

  Trocar Button &
  Applicator
Trocar button:  plastic threaded device for sealing punctures and small round trocar openings.  The applicator facilitates the insertion of the trocar button into the opening.
Wire Cutters Instrument used to cut only wire.
