At the University of Central Oklahoma Foundation, we believe each gift is the result of a sincere desire to make a difference and an expression of trust in the University. The UCO Foundation honors that trust by ensuring your gift is used exactly as you specify and that each of our supporters is recognized and thanked for their generosity.
The Foundation was established as an independent 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization in 1972 to provide scholarship assistance to deserving students and support for faculty, campus activities and vital programs at the University of Central Oklahoma.
That mission still thrives today, but with a distinct difference. In 1994, the Foundation Board of Trustees made the decision to become an active fundraiser and the philanthropic steward for the University instead of solely an administrator of donated funds. Since then, the Foundation has more than doubled its assets, starting with more than $6 Million in donations, pledges and estate gifts in 1994 to more than $18 million today, reflecting the University of Central Oklahoma’s continued growth in size, prominence and impact..
Founded in 1891, UCO is Oklahoma’s first institution of higher education and among the first examples of how generosity can impact education in our state. One of Oklahoma’s early leaders, Anton Classen, donated the land needed to establish the Territorial Normal School campus and build Old North, the campus’ first building. It was the first of what would be many generous actions that would make a profound difference in the lives UCO students.
Increasingly, UCO is an integral part of central Oklahoma’s growth. Today, one in six degrees earned in Oklahoma is from UCO. Further, the overwhelming majority of our students choose to stay in Oklahoma, living, working and making a significant impact on our state.
With a robust enrollment of nearly 16,000 students, UCO is the third largest university in Oklahoma, and has exceeded the growth rate of the state’s two larger universities combined. Under the leadership of President Roger Webb, people are not only hearing the Central story, they are listening, too.
UCO offers a transformative educational experience, nurturing both knowledge and character. Here, our students learn how to excel in their chosen field, while developing the values and purpose to see how their work can impact communities. It’s that little something extra we call Leadership.
Each fall and spring, our students fill UCO classrooms, labs and performance facilities. They attend sporting events and meetings for their student organizations. They learn. They grow. They develop the drive that turns a chemistry student into a top cancer researcher...a political science major to a Senator...a business major to a CEO. We invite your partnership in this transformation.
Your support sends our students out into the world, prepared to contribute to Oklahoma’s bright future. They will make a difference because you made a difference.
