UCO@125 Brings Big Changes to Central

CHK Central Boathouse

A lot can happen in 125 years. Throughout Central's history, there have been numerous changes. The university has grown immensely since the first classes took place in a local church building.. It's no wonder that change continues to be a part of the way things are done around here.

The UCO Foundation plays a big part in the changes on campus. In April, the CHK|Central Boathouse was opened on the Oklahoma River, providing more than just boat storage to the UCO Women's Rowing Team. In addition to the C. Hubert Gragg Shell Gallery, the Martha Burger Art Gallery holds artwork from Central artists and graduates. The MidFirst Bank Performance Hall, complete with adjustable elements throughout the space to allow for optimized acoustics, also features a fantastic view of the water. The CHK|Central Boathouse is a gorgeous representation of the university, right in the heart of the OKC Boathouse District.

Along with a handful of new graduates, May brought forth the beginning of the final phase of renovations inside of Old North. The project is expected to take a year to complete, and once finished, will reopen the building. Students, faculty, staff and friends of the university will be able to once again walk the halls of Old North, more than a decade after her doors were shut.
