FACULTY AND STUDENT SHOWCASEResearch Assistant, DXA research project

As co-principal investigators of the LIFT/HIPP Research Study, Michelle Gray and Melissa Powers are currently mentoring a team of seven undergraduate and graduate student research assistants.  The three-fold approach of the LIFT/HIPP project combines the need for physical activity among elder adults, transformative learning opportunities for UCO students, and scholarly activities for faculty. The LIFT/HIPP project is funded by the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology Health Research Award as well as On Campus Faculty grants. In 2009, Dr. Powers received the Vanderford Faculty Award in Support of Undergraduate Research, Creative, and Scholarly Activity.  Both Drs. Powers and Gray have been recognized as Emergent Faculty by the College of Education and Professional Studies in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
