Financial Aid Processing

  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - Students may apply for federal financial aid each year by completing the FAFSA on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov.   The FAFSA application is used to apply for nearly all types of federal and state aid programs.  The purpose of the FAFSA is to determine the family’s ability to pay for college according to a federal calculation.  The result is called the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).  This figure is used by the financial aid office to determine how much and what types of aid you may be eligible to receive.  Be sure to include UCO’s Title IV School Code 003152 and your intended housing plans for UCO when completing the FAFSA!

  • PIN Number - You must obtain a U.S. Department of Education PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov to electronically sign your application.  The student and at least one parent of a dependent undergraduate student will need a PIN.  The PIN allows you to file the FAFSA online, serves as your electronic signature and to access your federal loan history.  DO NOT share this PIN with anyone!

  • Once the Federal Application has been processed, an email is sent by Federal Student Aid to the student at the email address provided.  This email includes a link to the Student Aid Report (SAR).  Please review the SAR carefully for accuracy.  If there are errors, immediately follow the instructions concerning corrections.  You will be notified via email to your UCO email address if additional information or documentation is required.

  • If your application is selected for verification our office will request via your UCO email address the information necessary to complete and verify your file.  Financial Aid will not be processed for students who do not complete verification.

  • Transfer students must meet all General Eligibility Requirements.

  • Transfer students should contact their previous school and request cancellation of any pending disbursements.

  • Transfer students should submit official copies of academic transcripts from each school attended to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

  • Transfer students should make certain the UCO school code, 003152, is listed on their FAFSA.

  • Written policy/materials will always take precedence over any verbal information the applicant may receive.
