Central students also have awards from these Oklahoma programs:
• Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG)
• Oklahoma’s Promise (previously called the Oklahoma Higher Learning Access Program/OHLAP)- When should I fill out my FAFSA?
Students should complete their FAFSAs as early as possible. Each January, applications are available for the following academic year. Applications, however, can be processed up until the end of the term in which the student is enrolled. For that reason, when completing the FAFSA, students should be very careful to select the correct academic year. For instance, in January 2010, students may fill out 2009-10 applications for the Spring 2010 semester or 2010-11 applications for the Fall 2010 term. - What is the deadline for completing my FAFSA so the funds will be ready when school starts?
To allow adequate time for processing, UCO recommends filling out the FAFSA by:
May 31 (with file completion by June 30) for Fall semesters;
October 31 (with file completion by November 21) for Spring semesters;
April 1 (with file completion by April 30) for Summer semesters.- What is Central's school code?
Central's school code is 003152. Inclusion of this number on the FAFSA causes the application’s data to be sent to UCO. - Can I call the Central (FAFSA) Processor?
Yes, the telephone number is 1 (800) 433-3243. - If I am transferring to UCO from another school, what should I know about getting financial aid?
- UCO receives financial aid information about a student when the UCO school code is entered as part of an aid application. If the UCO school code is not part of the original application, the Student Aid Report (SAR) must be adjusted to include it (See next question for “How do I adjust my Student Aid Report (SAR)?
- When students transfer from an institution that expects them to receive federal aid, the student should notify them of the transfer to prevent pending aid from being distributed at the wrong institution.
- Financial aid will review coursework from the initial institution(s). Official transcripts must be on file with either the Office of Undergraduate Admissions or the Graduate College.
- Students under the age of 24 who were previously classified as independent by another institution should prepare to have their dependency status re-evaluated. Students can secure the ‘Request for Dependency Override’ from NUC 141 or via this link. The completed form and the required documentation must be returned either in person, via the mail (UCO Box 162, 100 N University Drive, Edmond, OK 73034) or by fax at (405) 340-7658. Completed requests are reviewed as soon as possible.
- As with all aid applications, verification documents may be required. All requested documents must be submitted before the application is processed.
- In order to avoid late payment penalties, applications must be completed by June 30 For Fall Semesters,Wednesday before Thanksgiving For Spring Semesters, and April 30 For Summer Semesters.
- How do I adjust my Student Aid Report (SAR)?
Student Aid Reports (SARs) can be updated either online or over the telephone. To update the SAR online, go to fafsa.ed.gov and update the application with UCO’s school code of 003152. This can also be done over the phone. Call (800) 433-3243. The phone call option requires the student to have access to their Date Release Number (DRN). It is located in the upper right hand corner of the paper SAR.
- What does it mean when you are selected for verification?
Students are randomly selected for verification by the Department of Education. Verification is a process where the Financial Aid office is required to review student and/or student’s parent(s) tax records and compare them with the information that is provided in the FAFSA application. - How long does the verification process take to complete?
The verification process can take up to four weeks to occur based upon the date that the last required document was received. - I can’t find my W-2s. What should I do?
Additional copies of W-2s can be obtained directly from the IRS. The IRS will fax the document to UCO at the student’s request. The fax number is (405) 340-7658. The IRS will also fax it to the student directly. This service is free as long as a transcript is ordered. - How long does it take for UCO to receive FAFSA results?
FAFSA data that is submitted electronically is usually received within two weeks of the completion of the online FAFSA. Results from paper forms are usually available at around four weeks. During high traffic periods (like the beginning of a semester), both could take longer. Please note that UCO only accepts the FAFSA date from students that are already admitted (although this is very likely to change).

The Consortium Agreement refers to the two colleges/universities as the “Home Campus” and the “Visiting Campus”: The Home Campus is the school where the student is fully matriculated and from which he/she will get a degree. The Visiting Campus is where the student temporarily takes courses, whose credits will be transferred back to his/her “Home Campus”.

• East Central University
