STEP@UCO: Summer Bridge Program for Incoming Freshmen in Mathematics and Science
Applications are due May 8, 2015
Welcome to the website for the STEP@UCO program. STEP refers to the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Talent Expansion Program as funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Our emphasis in this program is on supporting undergraduate research and education. A Summer Bridge program, held during the month of July, is offered for students majoring in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). The program is for incoming UCO freshmen. On-campus housing is available at no cost to participants. The dates for the 2015 program are July 6th through 30th. Sessions are held Monday through Thursday each week. No sessions are held on Fridays or on weekends.
Summer Bridge for Incoming Freshmen: We recruit students from high schools into a Summer Bridge program in which they are exposed to both teaching and research (laboratory and/or field) activities and support them with stipends. Participants will get a head-start on their college education by working with faculty mentors from the UCO College of Mathematics and Science on research projects during the month of July. Summer Bridge participants will receive a $1,000 stipend. Students who wish to continue with their research receive $800 stipends ($400 per semester) during their freshman year.
