Objectives
The Master of Science in Engineering Physics program provides an excellent opportunity for individuals trained in technical disciplines, such as engineering and physics, to further their education. The curriculum consists of a basic core of physics courses and additional courses that support each student's goals. The program is very flexible and meets a variety of needs consistent with the resources of the Department of Engineering and Physics and the University of Central Oklahoma.
While the primary objective of the program is to prepare students for successful careers in industry, some students have earned the MS in Engineering Physics at UCO in order to prepare for PhD study at other institutions.
Degree Information
Students pursuing the MS in Engineering Physics must complete a minimum of 32 semester hours of formal course work in physics and other disciplines, such as mathematics, computing science, chemistry, or business. The university grants graduate credit for 5000-level courses only. Course requirements for the MS in Industrial and Applied Physics are listed below:

Course Sequence
Typical course sequences for a full-time, fully prepared MS candidates are presented below. It should be noted, however, that many of our students work to support families or enter our program from other fields (such as engineering). We find, therefore, that few students are ready or willing to follow such a rigorous program as that presented below. Our Master's Program advisors will work to adjust this course sequence to meet each student's individual preparation and time commitments.
