The University of Central Oklahoma will host the Drum Corps International Tour for a special musical performance, "DCI Central Oklahoma," at 7:30 p.m. July 25 at UCO's Wantland Stadium located in Edmond.           

The performance will feature various top world-class drum corps including the 2011 World Champion Cadets from Allentown, Pa., The Glassmen from Toledo, Ohio, and The Academy from Tempe, Ariz., among many others.           

"We are absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Drum Corps International Tour here at Central this year," said David Hanan, associate director of UCO Bands and director of the UCO Stampede of Sound marching band.           

"This event is exciting and fun for the whole family.  The level of talent in the corps is incredible and the show is highly entertaining," he continued.           

Founded in 1972, Drum Corps International is celebrating its 40th anniversary season with this special tour, which will stop in 44 states and perform 101 shows.  The entire tour will culminate Aug. 9-11 during the DCI World Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.           

DCI bills itself as "marching music's major league," with more than 400,000 people attending their live drum corps events each summer.                  

Tickets range from $15 to $25 and can be purchased by visiting www.dci.org.  Tickets are also available the day of the show, but ticket prices increase by $3 per ticket.  Proceeds from ticket sales will support band scholarships at UCO.
