The University of Central Oklahoma Department of Art will host a public lecture given by Paul Andrew Wandless, visiting ceramic, printmaking and mixed media artist, at 7 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 30 in the UCO Education Building, room 115.
Wandless will discuss his philosophy and describe the process he goes through in developing his artworks. He will use slides to illustrate the different stages of the development process revealing each step from the beginning to final product.
Wandless is an assistant professor of art at Harold Washington College in Chicago. He is recognized for his numerous publications about alternative clay techniques including the ceramic print. He is the author of "Image Transfer on Clay" and co-author of "Alternative Kiln and Firing Techniques: Raku, Sagger, Pit and Barrel."
As part of Wandless' visit to Central, he will conduct a two-day workshop for art students about printmaking techniques on clay. Students will learn how to place imagery created in a 2D setting on 3D sculptural artwork.
The lecture is free to attend; however, the workshop is only open to Central art students.
